Reality TV Auditions: Prepare Your Portfolio with proper Photos

The cult like following shows like The Bachelor and The Amazing Race earned have transformed the 'reality' TV show format into something of a pop culture phenomenon.

Whether a experienced or amateur actor, you've decided you want to audition for a reality show of some. Even if you do no experience in quality and no interest in acting, you may be considering trying to show the reality for the fun of it. There are several factors to consider when auditions for reality TV. A very important factor to consider is the portfolio of pictures that you will present the hearing process.

You already have a portfolio?

If you are a player of any experience level, you have an existing portfolio of professional photographs of yourself. Your portfolio may include head shots, body shots and lifestyle photos among others. Whether pictures of you that are in your portfolio were taken by an agency, a professional photographer or a friend, they are undoubtedly both professional and flattering. Unfortunately, producers of reality TV shows are not looking for professional actors or models (unless you try to model America's Next Top, etc.)

Keep It Real

If you want to audition for and cast in a reality TV show, chances are, you must present yourself as a real person – AKA your real self. So if you have a professional portfolio, scrap it altogether and starting from zero. Choose a simple photo album for your portfolio. Go past personal photos you include. Make sure the photos you choose to include your profile you're watching. If you had long hair but recently cut it, make sure to only use photos where your hair is the same as his current style.

Capacity for theater

In addition to choosing pictures where you look like an ordinary (real) person and where you you really look at yourself, look for different pictures that capture the range of emotions that you're capable of. reality TV producers search for participants will create interesting circumstances due to their propensity to fiction. In other words, do not choose only photos where you are happy and smile shiningly. Try to find one (or strategically take some pictures) where different emotions are captured on your face. This may sound gloomy, but if you have pictures where you look angry or sad, include that you have as a person with a certain depth of emotion.

Personality Pointers

When building your photo album – AKA portfolio, make sure to include several pictures that represent your personality and your lifestyle. For example, if you're known as a globe-trotter, use pictures of yourself Italy, or that Buddhist temple you visited last summer. If you are a keen sportsman, include photos of recent events you participated. Try to use pictures that you show by participating actively in life, no matter how you do.

Video Portfolio

Although sometimes you'll hear live (and may be invited to submit your photos before the audition) chances are you will be asked to film for 2 to 5 minutes of video you first. Some reality TV producers demand a video instead of photos or portfolio. In this case, review past seasons of the program you are trying to get and vote to see what kind of people the show is likely to capture. Practice in front of friends and family members, and re-record your audition as many times as necessary until a just law.
